Finally I came up with a first basic version of a new looper in TidalCycles!
I uploaded the code on my Github page
What I did so far:
- Record a buffer with a dynamic size based on the length of a pattern (controllable with the mini-notation)
- Choose a specific buffer (from 0 to 7)
- Change the input port (I use Blackhole - the input and output ports are equal so I can record my channel results)
- Resetting the buffer
- Sending OSC message with the record status
You can find a demo video where I demonstrate all of these here:
What I am still loosely planning to implement are more complex looper variants with the following features:
- Quantizing
- Customizable buffer names
- Pitch correction
- Smooth transition between buffers
- Multiple Inputs
- Appending multiple buffers (so you can use the function "n")
- [Optional] Treshold based recording (maybe this is not practical?)
I would be very happy to receive feedback and ideas!
