New install on Windows is silent

Hi,

I initially used the chocolatey install, but it was difficult to make it work.

((I think I may have already had an older chocolatey installed and the new install command did not upgrade it… But when I realised I upgraded that by hand and then the install did complete but with some log output which looked a bit suspect…))

So I tried again but following the manual install instructions this time, and as far as I can tell everything worked. I decided to use VSCode as my text editor, as I already had that and I put the plugin(s) on and again that looked good.

But I can’t hear anything. I have checked through the troubleshooting steps for that and there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong. Other sound sources on the machine seem to work fine, the samples seem to be installed etc etc.

I even tried the last step of reinstalling tidal under “stack” (I have no idea what “stack” is, but it was suggested so I tied it…)

I’m a very experienced computer user but have never encountered any of the systems in use here (apart from VSCode…) So it may well be something obvious…

It prints stuff in the output:

2026-03-12 16:02:22.133 [info] t> (0>½)|s: "bd"
(½>1)|s: "sn"

2026-03-12 16:02:42.500 [info] t> (0>½)|s: "bd"
(½>1)|s: "sn"

But there is no sound…

Any suggestions gratefully received

More than happy to go into things and check settings at my end, but please bear in mind I have never used SuperCollider, SuperDirt, Haskell, or ghcup before, so I will need details on where/how to look…

Thanks,

Ian
