Site rename + apologies for spurious emails!

Hi all

This was “tidal club” but is now renamed to the Uzu forum, for Strudel and other uzulangs, as well as TidalCycles.

Uzu is the collective name for ‘Tidal-like’ pattern-based live coding languages.

I’ve also been reorganising old threads in categories - really sorry if you got some spurious emails! I think I’ve tracked down the setting so this shouldn’t happen any more.

There’s a new standalone category LLM Corner - please use this for all discussions around AI, including large language models. It’s muted by default, please unmute it if you’d like notifications from that category.

There’s also a new category What if? - you can use this for sharing your ideas and dreams about imaginary features for Tidal, Strudel and other uzulangs.

The uzu discord has been the main community focus, reaching over 10,000 users, but many are now looking for an alternative away from discord.. So time to re-energise this forum!

Check here if you’d been subscribed to every category during the switchover

What’s the difference between the two Q & A categories with the same name? I see them too.

thank you, i was getting emails for absolutely everything and struggled to figure out how to turn it off

Ok I think I see the problem, everyone was subscribed to ‘watch’ everything, which meant a notification for every post. I believe I’ve now turned that off for everyone – if you really did want to automatically ‘watch’ all topics in a category, you’ll now have to turn that back on.

If you ‘track’ a category, then you only get a notification when someone mentions or replies to you.

You can check and adjust your ‘watching’ and ‘tracking’ here:

I’m very sorry for all the noise!

One is Q+A category is for Strudel and one is for Tidal. I’ve also realised that you can’t really see the difference between them in some situations, will try to fix that!

is it intended that there are now no categories which are being tracked at all (I.e. one has to opt-in for all categories they want to track?)

(editing my reply on top: I think it’s fine as is right now, track all by default is fine too. I just wanted to make sure that is what you intended to do)

when I choose a category to be tracked, like “strudel”, are all the posts with that tag included, or do I have to add multi-category entities like “strudel Q&A” add separately?

I think it would be nice to have all categories ‘tracked’ by default, but not ‘watched’. I think most people would want to be notified of replies to their posts, and that's all that happens for ‘tracking’. However, I thought best to let things calm down for a while and ask people’s opinions of this before acting. So what do you think ?
